ARC FLASH & HIGH VOLTAGE SAFETY CLASS CERTIFICATION PROVIDED

This is a 2-day electrical safety high voltage training program which addresses particularly, but not exclusively, to those substation electricians responsible for medium voltage systems (25kV) and to utility personnel responsible for 69kV to 500kV systems. The course explores all ranges that surely are of interest to an electrical professional; wether we're talking about the Low, Medium or High Voltages. The course starts with a brief introduction into the Low Voltage Safety field and continues with an elaborate and complex itinerary on Medium & High Voltage Safety procedures.

During this training session you'll learn valuable information on both theoretical and practical fields. Your theoretical background will be completed with the most important aspects of the CSA Z462 standard. Then to these information we'll add a great amount of practical knowledge. Through the most important topics we prepared for you we can mention:

  • Hazards Recognition - which covers everything, starting from safe insulation procedures and ends with the complex emergency systems.
  • Management Controls - which focuses mainly about electrical code and engineering controls.
  • Safety Documentation - best practices, suitable work & operating procedures and permits &clearances.
  • PPE
  • Grounding
  • Switching
  • Job Planning

Field Control - inspections, job planning, hazard identification & reporting.
Work Methods - limits of approach & switching practices.
Grounding - faults, induced voltages, safe grounding, temporary grounds.
Switching - single line diagrams, using prints, electrical system drawings, lockout/isolation, switching workshop.
Job Planning - hazard control & job planning.

An Out of the Box, ready for use information.

At the end of this course you will:
Realize the damage electricity can cause to the human body and understand the basic principles of safety.
Understand how to the Arc Flash mitigation guidelines according to Canadian Standards Association.
Learn to recognise all energy sources and hazards created by various electrical equipment and devices.
Understand legislation and apply methodologies to comply.
Gain a complehensive knowledge of the required PPE and ancillary High Voltage safety equipment available.
Understand & apply preventative and post-accident meetings, analyses and reports.
Interpret and use a single line diagram to write a switching sequence to safely isolate and electrical device for work.
Carry out Hazard/Risk Analysis in determining the degree and extent of hazards for maintenance tasks on all electrical equipment.

Our instructor will:

Manage all questions and challenging information.
Provide substantial information, more than a simple book or an online media can.
Deliver hands-on examples so that the practicallity of this course will be a complete and unique experience.
Assess the progress of every student through to our crafty engineered tests.
