Kenny Brown has over 38 years of electrical maintenance experience with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). He started his electrical career as an apprentice in 1980 and joining the IBEW LU-558 at TVA’s Brown’s Ferry Nuclear plant.

He led maintenance crews as an electrical foreman soon after receiving journeyman status and was selected to be the sites first Certified Electrical Maintenance Instructor. He was certified by The National Academy of Nuclear Training through the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO). Kenny helped lead the site to its initial accreditation by INPO for the electrical maintenance training program earning him Senior Electrical Instructor status.

Kenny has over 21 years of training and qualifying craftsmen in the nuclear power industry as well as conducting classes to Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Inspectors and INPO personnel.

Kenny’s training experience includes design and development of lesson plans, lab guides and qualification standards, as well as extensive classroom, lab and OJT instruction, including performing examination and task qualification of trainees in preventive and corrective maintenance activities of nuclear plant electrical components and systems.

Key topics include the testing/maintenance of low and medium voltage switchgear, circuit breakers and distributions systems, motor operated valve maintenance and diagnostic testing (Limitorque, Rotork, Teledyne MOV’s), AC/DC motors and controls, air-conditioning and chiller maintenance (HVAC), certified hand soldering of electrical connections (MIL-Spec), Raychem applications and CONAX seal applications.

Kenny also brings management experience having been an Electrical Maintenance Supervisor at Brown’s Ferry Nuclear plant and Electrical Construction Superintendent at TVA’s Bellefonte Nuclear plant.
